Care Instructions and Repairs
Each Studio Tondini piece is crafted in Italy from carefully selected Made in Italy materials, with rare exceptions stated transparently.
Natural variations in colour and texture are inherent to these materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece.
With use, the materials will develop marks and nuances that reflect their life over time.
These changes are not imperfections.
They are part of the material’s nature - and of the relationship between the object and its owner.
To support the longevity of each piece, we are pleased to offer repair services.
For any request, please contact us via this form.
Storage:
When not in use, store your piece in its dust bag, filled with the provided paper to preserve its shape. Keep it in a clean, dry environment, away from direct light and humidity. Additional protective measures may be considered depending on storage conditions.
Leather
About our leathers:
We selected high quality leathers which are both long-lasting, as well as easy to be taken care of.
General care:
Leather is a natural material, the colour of which may transfer on other items/textiles.
To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:
- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example,: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or
- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the leather, and/or
- with garments/upholstery having particularly light colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or
- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.
Cleaning:
Our leather does not require the application of any leather care cream on it. Should you anyway wish to use one, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral leather care product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini item. Follow the specific cream's instructions in order to ensure its proper use.
Should the leather of your product become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.
Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to polish and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.
Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.
Piñatex®
About Piñatex®:
Piñatex® is a patented, vegan, natural, and innovative leather-alternative material, created with pineapple leaf fibres. Read more info here.
General care:
Piñatex® is a natural material, the colour of which may transfer on other items/textiles.
To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:
- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example,: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or
- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve Piñatex®, and/or
- with garments/upholstery having particularly light colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or
- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.
Metallic foil care:
The shiny metallic finishing makes the item manufactured with it particularly delicate.
Metallic foil is extremely sensitive to abrasion.
We therefore recommend to handle with the outmost care and extremely gently, in order to let it retain its appeareance for as long as possible.
Cleaning (Instructions kindly provided by Ananas Anam Ltd.):
Clean your product thoroughly and effectively using a cloth soaked in warm soapy water. If your item is heavily soiled, you can rinse with lukewarm water but never fully submerge the product as this may cause irreversible damage.
Let your item dry before any application is made and refrain from using a heat source to dry more quickly, as this could cause damage.
Waxing (Instructions kindly provided by Ananas Anam Ltd.):
Ananas Anam Ltd., producer of Piñatex®, recommends using a natural colourless wax for your Piñatex® products (except those having metallic foil-finishing). Apply a small amount to a dry, soft cloth and rub sparingly over the textile in a circular motion until fully absorbed. Do not use too much wax as it may not fully absorb.
Leave your item to dry naturally for 24 hours after application.
You can also buff the wax off with a dry cloth or soft brush.
Canvas
About our canvas:
We selected a high quality, water-repellent, cotton and linen canvas.
General care:
Our canvas' coating has a waterproof treatment applied to it, although this does not make the material waterproof.
Our canvas is made of natural materials, the colour of which may transfer or be transferred on/from other items/textiles.
To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:
- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example,: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or
- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the canvas, and/or
- with garments/upholstery having particularly light or dark colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or
- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.
Cleaning:
Should the canvas of your bag become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.
Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to clean and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.
Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.
In case you wish to apply a water-repellent treatment, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral water-repellent product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini item. Follow the specific water-repellent product's instructions in order to ensure its proper use.
Hardware
About our hardware:
We selected high quality, tailor-made, nickel-free hardware.
General care:
Our hardware's coating is resistant to wear, although polished hardware might scratch.
To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:
- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example,: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or
- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the hardware, and/or
- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.
Cleaning:
Should the hardware of your bag become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.
In case you wish to use a polish product, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral metal care product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini product.
Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to polish and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.
Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.
